The empirical facts have long debunked claims by insurance carriers and other interest groups that the rising cost of malprcatice claims is crippling our health care system. From the New York Times:

As an informed citizenry, we should be more careful to whom we cede our rights. The civil justice system, i.e., the good old “Jury of our Peers,” has been and still remains the best means of adressing our grievances when harmed by another. Whether it’s an injury from medical malpractice, a car accident, or someone else’s negligence, our institutions of justice are better left in the hands of fellow citizens rather than corporate interests, politicians and PACs.
